Swimming performance consists
"START, TURNS, SWIMMING, FINISHING, DIFFERENT TACTIC DURING THE RACE."
"How good was start, turn; what kind of tactic was used in the beginning
and in the end of the distance; how good was finishing technique? Videorecording
and computerised analyses, made from each finals and semifinals let us
analyse following parameters"
START:
time of 15m from
signal in sec
speed of 15m from
signal in m / sec .
timing 15m from the start in competition from signal to head cross 15m
line indicate effect of your start. It's important to know the world best
start times and start speeds. It is useful to compare the start speed
with the speed of turns or swimming.
TURNS :
time from head
cross the 5m line before turn to head cross the 10m line after turn in sec
(total turn time of 15m)
speed of each turn
in m / sec
average speed of
all turns in m/sec
"Timing turns is useful for comparing swimmers, first and other turns.
Turn speeds make the comparing of swimming speed and turn speed possible
and as a rule, turn speed must be better then swimming speed, to indicate
turn's effect. Average speed of all turns is for comparison with average
pure swimming speed."
FINISH
last 5 m time from
head to touching the wall
finishing speed
in m/sec
"Finishing time, measured from the head cross the 5m line before
the wall, until hand touching the wall indicate how good the finishing
was. If the touch is successful, the speed must be higher then the swimming
speed during the last lap before finishing. "
SWIMMING:
pure swimming speed
in m/sec for each lap
average swimming
speed in m/sec
Swimming speeds during laps are measured after the start and before the
first turn; between turns; after the last turn and before finishing .It
is important to compare swimming speeds to know the fluctuation of the
swimming speed. Swimming speeds in m/sec during a competition are important
values to know for planning the level of intensity for aerobic and anaerobic
training work.
Stroke frequency
(cycle/min)
Stroke length (m)
"These are two important stroke technique parameters, related to swimming
speeds during the race. They are very individual, but the difference in
the beginning and in the end of distance will show the swimmers technical
and tactical version for that result."
"You have to look how the world best results were made and compare
it with results of your swimmer. You have to follow changes and compare
your competition analyses parameters from semifinal to final, from competition
to competition and from year to year. You will find that the same result
can be done with different parameters. This indicates that each swimmer
has his own individual qualities. It is up to you how to plan and construct
your individual tactical plan for the competition today. It is also easy
to predict your result for tomorrow , according parameters of your start,
turn or swimming. It helps to evaluate individually each high-level swimmer
result more objectively."
The Europeans best rows are selected from the analyses of individual parameters
of best swimmers in LEN Short Course Championships during last 10 years.
"LEN provide COMETITION ANALYSES in all LEN long course, short course
and junior championships."
